American Visionary Art Museum Wedding
Once again, Putting on the Ritz had the pleasure of catering a memorable wedding and reception at the American Visionary Arts Museum. One of the most interesting Baltimore wedding venues, AVAM features unique settings including The Barn, where the happy couple tied the knot and the Sculpture Garden, an outdoor venue where guests enjoyed “Kentucky Buck” specialty cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres while the bride and groom had waterfront photographs taken at the Inner Harbor.
Following the cocktail hour, guests continued the wedding at AVAM with a trip to the third floor of the Jim Rouse Visionary Center for dinner and dancing. Putting on the Ritz helped the couple create a menu that reflected their specific tastes. Not wanting the usual served meal or buffet, the bride and groom opted for stations set up throughout the room offering a variety of unique menu options.
A Mongolian Barbeque station allowed guests to select their own combination of chicken, steak, shrimp and vegetables which Putting on the Ritz chefs prepared while they watched. A gourmet grilled cheese display was a huge hit with guests as they enjoyed brie and pears, cheddar and apples and asiago on grilled flatbread accompanied by creamy roasted tomato and basil soup shooters. For those guests looking for more traditional wedding fare, a uniformed chef was on hand to carve oven-roasted turkey and top round of beef accompanied by Putting on the Ritz’s famous garlic mashed potatoes and haricot vert.
The bride and groom’s vision of understated elegance and rustic charm could be seen throughout the entire evening. The tables were draped in shades of ivory and tan and beautiful lights were hung over the dance floor which perfectly complimented the up-lighting around the dinner tables.
