As the July 4th holiday sweeps in, the city celebrates America’s independence with a variety of events leading up to the big day.
Tonight, Wawa Welcome America closes out its annual Philly at the Movies outdoor movie series with a screening of Rocky on the iconic Rocky steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
For those looking to beat the heat cool off inside of a museum as the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Museum of American Jewish History open their doors for pay-what-you-wish Wednesday.

• Philly at the Movies — Rocky at the Art Museum Steps: Grab a seat on the famous steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and cheer on the Italian Stallion during the annual free screening of the iconic Philadelphia-film Rocky during Philly at the Movies, presented by Wawa Welcome America.

• P.M. at the Penn Museum Summer Nights Concert Series: The Philadelphia Songwriters Project takes the stage at the Penn Museum for its weekly P.M. at the Penn Museum summer concert series. Tonight’s concert features the four artists who won the Philadelphia Songwriters Project, look forward to everything from rock to blues-inspired pieces. General admission is $10 and includes admission to the museum, too. Admission is free for museum members, PennCard holders, Penn Health System employees and children under the age of 5. In the case of rain, concerts move inside the museum.
